About the Role

  • Position: Social Media Internship
  • Platform(s): Instagram (maybe TikTok)
  • Duration: July 1st, 2024, until May 1st, 2025. (10 months)
  • Location: Remote

The Social Media Intern is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance brand visibility, engage with the target audience, and drive growth across social media platforms with assistance from Program staff. This role involves creating and curating high-quality content, maintaining a content calendar, and engaging with the community to build a loyal following. The social media manager monitors and analyzes performance metrics to optimize content and strategies and stay current with social media trends and platform updates. The ideal candidate is creative, analytical, and passionate about social media, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Develop and curate engaging, high-quality content, including images, videos, stories, and reels.
  • Content Calendar: Plan and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent posting and engagement.
  • Community Engagement: Interact with followers, respond to comments and messages, and build a loyal community.
  • Growth Strategies: Implement strategies to increase followers, engagement, and reach.
  • Analytics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as follower growth, engagement rates, and reach.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay updated with the latest social media trends and platform updates.
  • Collaboration: Work with our marketing and design team to ensure brand consistency and content ideas.
  • Campaign Management: Assist in the planning and executing of social media campaigns and promotions.
  • Brand Voice: Maintain a consistent brand voice and identity across all content.
  • Learning & Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance social media skills.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university program.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in using Instagram and its features.
    • Basic graphic design skills using tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Creative thinking and an eye for visual aesthetics.
    • Understanding of social media metrics and analytics.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in managing social media accounts is a plus.
    • Familiarity with social media management tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, or similar would be beneficial. 
  • Attributes:
    • Passion for social media and digital marketing.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
    • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
