Position summary 

We’re currently seeking an experienced copywriter to write persuasive copy for a range of campaigns, including email marketing and paid media campaigns focused on awareness, conversions, and other goals, while maintaining a consistent brand voice across channels.

This is a full-time position, and you’ll be working in the Direct Response Marketing department, reporting to the Direct Response Marketing Manager.

A successful candidate will have a strong commitment to libertarian ideas, a solid understanding of SFL’s mission, and relevant experience writing persuasive copy that drives results.

Responsibilities

  • Write compelling, conversion-focused copy for landing pages
  • Write compelling ad copy for paid media campaigns, including Meta Ads and Google Ads
  • Write copy for email marketing campaigns, including donor acquisition, nurturing, retention, upgrade asks, reactivation sequences, and win-back campaigns for lapsed donors
  • Write compelling email copy for warm-up, launch, urgency, follow-up, and conversion campaigns
  • Conduct A/B testing across paid media and email campaigns, testing headlines, subject lines, messaging, long-form vs. short-form copy, and other variables
  • Optimize automated email nurture sequences based on donor behavior, engagement, and lifecycle stage
  • Develop messaging for different audience segments, including prospects, one-time donors, recurring donors, and lapsed donors
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across donor communications and fundraising channels

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of copywriting experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proven experience writing conversion-focused email marketing copy
  • Proven experience writing ad copy for paid media campaigns
  • Experience building and optimizing marketing flows and funnels
  • Experience with Pardot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar email marketing platforms
  • Strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and a strong sense of ownership

Preferred (but not mandatory):

  • Experience with fundraising or direct response marketing
  • Experience writing copy for donor acquisition, retention, reactivation, and recurring giving campaigns
  • Familiarity with the liberty and free-market intellectual movement and its donor community
