Students For Liberty is announcing two new speakers for LibertyCon International 2024: Kat Murti, Tony Lopes, and James Lark III

Washington, D.C., December 7, 2023 Students For Liberty, the largest global pro-liberty student organization, is announcing two new speakers for their flagship event, LibertyCon International 2024. The event will take place at the prestigious Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C., from February 2-4, 2024.

Returning to LibertyCon is Kat Murti, the new Executive Director of Students for Sensible Drug Policy, and a co-founder and Executive Director of Feminists for Liberty. Kat also serves on the board of the White Coat Waste Project and previously worked at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. She grew up between North Texas and South India, got a political science degree at the University of California at Berkeley, and now lives and works in Washington, D.C.

“I love LibertyCon, it’s definitely been one of my favorite conferences that I go to every year, and I love connecting with people that are truly passionate about liberty,” said Kat when interviewed by SFL Marketing Director Joshua Eakle about her involvement in the flagship conference again this year. “I go to a lot of liberty oriented conferences, but I think LibertyCon is the one that has the most energy and the most actual devotion to pushing back the state across all the different ways.”

Kat expressed her enthusiasm for taking part in LibertyCon this year, which includes leading a panel discussion on civil asset forfeiture, and discussions about AI regulations and the death penalty. “I am so excited for LibertyCon 2024. I love the energy, I love the excitement, I love meeting young people who are actually making change around the world – these are people who live the words that they speak.”

Making their LibertyCon debut is Tony Lopes, a first-generation American, CEO of Dirty Boots Capital, real estate professional, bestselling author, coach, and speaker. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from UMass. He worked in the defense industry for 19 years, managing multi-million-dollar programs while simultaneously building a portfolio of residential income properties. His investments, coupled with his understanding of markets and economics allowed him to retire at age 44. What really drives Tony is sharing his knowledge and experience so that others can achieve financial independence and enjoy the same level of freedom he does.

“Liberty and Freedom is a participation sport. Every one of us should participate,” said Lopes when asked about his participation at LibertyCon this year. “That is why the authors of the constitution deliberately used the words ‘We The People’ vs we the politicians or we the Federal Reserve. We know that the roadmap to greater liberty and freedoms have changed dramatically in a generation.”

Excited about speaking with a much younger LibertyCon audience, Tony added that “what worked for parents in the 1990’s and 2000’s no longer works for young people today. It’s inspiring to be part of LibertyCon and be in a room full of people actively creating a better future for themselves. I gain as much from my conversations with attendees as I do listening to the speakers.”

When asked what he felt was the number one thing young people in the world today should learn about housing and investments, he responded by declaring, “Don’t be paralyzed with fear. There have always been bubbles; stock market bubbles, housing bubbles, tech bubbles. Each time they’ve popped, we’ve always achieved higher-highs eventually. This time will be no different. Take this time to learn, network and create deep connections with meaningful people. Whether it be real estate, crypto, Tesla stock, etc., There are hundreds if not thousands of ways to create more wealth, freedom & liberty.”

Also returning to LibertyCon this year is James Lark III PhD, a former chairman of the Libertarian National Committee and founding director of the Libertarian National Congressional Committee. Dr Lark is the Local Affiliate Parties’ Committee chairman and is heavily involved with campus outreach, both for Virginia and the national party, conducting many organizing tours and workshops on this subject. He currently teaches a campus organizing course for the Libertarian Leadership School. Professionally, he is an adjunct professor of systems engineering at the University of Virginia. In 2018, he was inducted into the Hall of Liberty.
