Students For Liberty (SFL) is the largest international pro-liberty student organization in the world, with student volunteers spanning over 100 countries on all inhabited continents. Our mission is to Educate, Develop, and Empower the next generation of leaders of liberty. We accomplish this by identifying the top student leaders and training them to be agents of change in their communities.
We are a remote, vibrant, and entrepreneurial organization consisting of 80+ full-time staff members.
Position Summary
Students For Liberty seeks an execution-driven leader to serve as North America Programs Director. This full-time role is responsible for driving growth, activation, and measurable impact across the United States and Canada.
The North America Programs Director will take full ownership of regional performance, including expanding the student network, activating and supporting campus groups, and ensuring consistent student-led impact aligned with SFL’s mission. The role requires a leader who can translate strategy into action, build momentum across a distributed team, and ensure strong execution at every level of the organization.
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership ability with a bias toward action. They are comfortable setting clear expectations, holding teams accountable, and working directly with students and staff to achieve ambitious growth and impact goals. Success in this role is defined by visible activity, strong coordinator engagement, and measurable regional outcomes.
The North America Programs Director will report to the Director of International Programs and will oversee a team of five direct reports. The position is virtual with regular travel across North America and to key Students For Liberty events.
Responsibilities
Regional Leadership and Growth
- Lead and execute the overall strategy for Students For Liberty’s North America programs, ensuring strong performance across recruitment, engagement, and student impact.
- Drive expansion of the Local Coordinator (volunteer) network through active and strong onboarding processes.
- Establish clear regional priorities and ensure consistent execution toward growth targets.
- Take ownership of regional outcomes, including active coordinators, volunteer engagement, and program participation.
- Maintain strong momentum across recruitment cycles to ensure sustained growth of the student network.
Chapter Activation and Team Management
- Lead and support the North America programs team, ensuring clarity of expectations, accountability, and consistent execution.
- Work directly with staff and student leaders to strengthen campus groups and increase activity levels.
- Coach and develop team members to improve performance, leadership capacity, and execution effectiveness.
- Ensure regular communication rhythms with volunteers and chapter leaders across the region.
- Identify performance challenges early and implement clear action plans to improve outcomes.
Impact Projects and Leadership Development
- Drive the development and execution of student-led impact projects that advance liberty on campuses and in local communities.
- Identify and mentor high-performing coordinators, helping them grow into leaders.
- Support students in moving from participation to ownership by leading initiatives, campaigns, and projects.
- Ensure projects are executed effectively and contribute to measurable regional impact.
- Increase both the quantity and quality of student-led initiatives demonstrating leadership and influence.
Program Execution and Operational Oversight
- Ensure consistent execution of regional programs through strong follow-through and operational discipline.
- Coordinate closely with Alumni, Marketing, and Global Programs teams to align regional activities with organizational priorities.
- Monitor regional performance metrics and adjust execution strategies to meet goals.
- Maintain clear reporting systems and accountability standards across staff and coordinators.
- Address operational challenges quickly to maintain forward momentum.
Communications and Visibility
- Strengthen the visibility of Students For Liberty across North America through active engagement with students, partners, and campus communities.
- Work with SFL’s Marketing and Creative teams to highlight student achievements, projects, and regional impact.
- Represent Students For Liberty at conferences, campus events, and key gatherings within the liberty movement.
- Promote a culture of ownership, initiative, and leadership among students and staff.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in program leadership, organizational growth, community building, and team management.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and delivering measurable growth or impact outcomes.
- Strong understanding of classical-liberal and pro-liberty principles and commitment to SFL’s mission and vision.
- Ability to travel, up to 25%.
- Experience mentoring or developing young leaders.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to lead distributed teams and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong accountability and follow-through.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- High integrity, humility, and a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and virtual collaboration tools.
- Bias for action.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with student and volunteer-based organizations, campus programs, or grassroots movements.
- Familiarity with the American liberty movement organizations.
- Experience managing volunteer-driven or decentralized teams.
- Event leadership and partnership development experience.
Compensation
SFL offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and provides excellent benefits. This role is fully remote, with travel opportunities to key conferences and events within the liberty movement.
