Alumni Social Media Intern

Position Summary

Together with the main SFL channel, Alumni For Liberty is at the forefront of SFL’s social media marketing, having a monthly reach of 11k+ on Instagram and average monthly views of 30k+. Capitalizing on this, we are looking to expand our social media team to create even more engaging content, highlight our alumni’s incredible work, and advertise the services we are offering to them. In particular, we are looking for creative individuals with a good eye for social-media-oriented content creation and graphic design. By working on the AFL social media team, you will acquire new skills, learn how to best utilize software like Canva or Capcut, and serve a community of over twelve thousand changemakers across 141 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and create visually engaging social media content cross-promote content across all our major social media profiles Instagram, Facebook Page, Facebook Group, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Use design tools such as Canva & CapCut to create graphics and videos promoting AFL activities and alumni success stories and foster the professional network
  • Work in a team to deliver department-wide social media campaigns with strong visual and narrative appeal.
  • Track global events and social media trends and curate content that relates to them, highlighting the relevant work of the alumni to address these global issues.
  • Maintain deadlines, ensure timely posting, report on progress to the Social Media Officer
  • Track and review analytics to assess performance and inform design and content decisions.

Qualifications

  • Current member of SFL or an SFL Alum
  • Strong social media proficiency
  • Graphic design proficiency, with experience using design tools
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of brand aesthetics
  • Ability to create visually appealing and engaging content
  • Proficiency in Canva 
  • Ability to write compelling captions that resonate with the alumni community and encourage action.
  • Deep understanding of how Instagram works
  • Strong research skills
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to stay updated on social media algorithm changes
  • Self-responsibility and diligence
