Sextas na Cidade is a multidisciplinary urbanism project designed to make Brazilian cities more human-centered, dynamic, and free. Inspired by thinkers like Jane Jacobs and Alain Bertaud, the project hosts public debates on urban development that combine architecture, economics, law, and public policy. These discussions directly inform legislative proposals aimed at removing bureaucratic barriers and reforming outdated planning models in cities like Brasília and Palmas.
The project fills a gap between academic theory and real-world urban transformation, giving citizens and students a platform to not only rethink their cities but actively shape them. It’s a participatory space where research, debate, and practical policymaking meet, generating informed proposals that promote decentralized, responsive urban environments.
Initial Objectives:
- Host up to 5 in-person and hybrid events with an expected audience of 50 people.
- Conduct up to 5 internal training sessions.
- Publish up to 15 articles and 25 social media posts.
- Hold up to 50 internal coordination meetings.
- Raise up to R$500 in local fundraising to support activities.
