Students For Liberty Wins Atlas Network’s 2023 Africa Liberty Award

Students For Liberty has been honored with the prestigious 2023 Africa Liberty Award, presented by Atlas Network at the Africa Liberty Forum

McLean, Virginia – July 25, 2023Students For Liberty, a leading organization promoting classical liberalism and economic freedom, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 Africa Liberty Award. Presented by Atlas Network, the award recognizes the outstanding contributions of Students For Liberty in fostering policy changes and advancing economic freedom in Africa. Linda Kavuka, the director of African programs, accepted the award on behalf of Students For Liberty at the Africa Liberty Forum 2023 held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Africa Liberty Award forms part of the renowned “Templeton Freedom Award” prize program, sponsored by Templeton Religion Trust, in tribute to the late investor and philanthropist Sir John Templeton. The prize program extends its support to organizations across Europe, Asia, Latin America, North America, and the Middle East & North Africa. This year, the program will grant a total of $270,000 to organizations that have made innovative and significant contributions to economic freedom and human progress.

Students For Liberty has played a pivotal role in promoting classical liberalism in Africa. With the dedication of nearly 1,400 African alumni, who have gone on to establish various organizations and achieve policy successes, the impact of Students For Liberty’s programs has been profound. Participants of the program receive exceptional opportunities for professional development and education, tailoring their acquired knowledge to address the specific needs of their respective regions.

The remarkable achievements of African Students For Liberty alumni can be seen in the establishment of over 20 pro-liberty think tanks, which have been instrumental in driving Africa’s think tank growth. The upcoming Students For Liberty fellowship has already received an overwhelming 1,550 applications from 36 African countries, highlighting the organization’s ever-growing influence and impact in the region.

We embrace this opportunity to honor their remarkable accomplishments.”

Students For Liberty is the largest global pro-liberty student organization with students active in 101 countries across every inhabited continent. With a multi-million dollar budget and over 90 full-time staff members, they serve pro-liberty students in their pursuit to become leaders of liberty. They accomplish this through a strategy of identifying the top students and then empowering them to be agents of change in their communities. Last school year, their students organized over 2,573 events with 155,852 people in attendance.
