Students For Liberty alumnus, Julio Clavijo, is appointed the next Vice-Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion in Ecuador.

Students For Liberty is happy to announce that their alumnus, Julio Clavijo, has been appointed as the new Vice Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion in Ecuador. Clavijo took office on May 27, 2021.

He will be working closely with Minister Mae Montaño and the president, Guillermo Lasso, on advancing entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.

In his role as a Vice-Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion, Clavijo plans to boost Ecuador’s financial education and launch several training programs that will help over 1.4 million Ecuadorians start their own businesses.

Clavijo joined the Students For Liberty coordinator program in 2012 as a student volunteer, and later became the Chairman of the Executive Board of Estudantes Por La Libertad (Es Libertad), Students For Liberty in the Spanish-speaking regions of the Americas.

“I am grateful to Students For Liberty for the support and training I have received over the years as a student volunteer and a member of the staff. I am determined to continue advancing the ideas of the free market and innovation in my position as Vice-Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion,” said Clavijo.

After working as a senior public policy advisor for the National Congress of Ecuador and as a Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, he became director of the Es Libertad Program. He also served as a country coordinator for the Pan-American Cuba freedom movement Red Latinoamericana de Jóvenes por la Democracia en Cuba. Clavijo studied in Ecuador and Manchester, and completed academic programs at Sciences Po Paris, Georgetown University, and MIT.
