MCLEAN, VA — June 20, 2023 — Students For Liberty, the world’s largest international pro-liberty student organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of two highly esteemed individuals, Rick Rule and Gabriel Calzada, to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Wolf von Laer, Chief Executive Officer of Students For Liberty, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the new additions to the Board of Directors. He stated, “I am personally thrilled to welcome Rick and Gabriel to our Board of Directors, and I believe they will greatly enhance our organization’s ability to scale while inspiring and empowering young individuals worldwide.”
Rick Rule is a highly-respected figure in the field of natural resource investing. He is the founder of Global Resource Investments and former President and CEO of Sprott US Holdings. Rick has dedicated his entire life to all aspects of the natural resource industry and has also financed several exploration and mining companies.
“I have enjoyed working together with Rick over the last 7 years,” said Dr. von Laer when announcing Mr. Rule’s appointment to the Board of Directors last week. “Rick has been a strong supporter of Students For Liberty since our inception in 2008. His unwavering commitment to our cause over the years has been invaluable, and I am excited to continue this relationship as we advance the Students For Liberty mission.”
Gabriel Calzada holds a doctorate in economics from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain, and has published over a thousand articles across a variety of international media outlets. Calzada is the founder of the Instituto Juan de Mariana and is currently the president of Universidad de las Hesperides and the Mont Pelerin Society.
“Gabriel was my professor during my Master’s program in Austrian Economics in Spain,” Dr. von Laer added, “Since then, we have fruitfully collaborated when he was the President of Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala and in his new position as the President of the Universidad de las Hespérides in the Canary Islands. I look forward to working closely with Gabriel in our continued global fight for liberty.”
