We accomplish this through empowerment, identifying the top student leaders and training them to be agents of change in their communities. Position Summary

Students For Liberty is currently seeking a passionate and professional individual to serve as Director of African Programs. This is a full-time position managing and executing the strategic plan for SFL programs in Africa. This role requires volunteer management experience, program management experience, team-supervision, fundraising and expert ability to keep a team engaged, motivated, and results-focused.

The Director of African Programs will manage the African team and will also work closely with global programs staff from other regions and support departments in the execution of their duties. The African program is one of the largest and most vibrant regions in the organisation, with presence in over 40 countries across the continent.

The Director will be responsible for shaping and consistent progress toward accomplishing the goals for Africa; communications including partner relationships, email newsletter, and social media platforms; ensuring successful execution of educational and leadership programs and events; ensuring constant communication with hundreds of activists across Africa; student volunteer coordination; and all aspects of African operations.

A successful candidate will have a firm commitment to libertarian ideas and to SFL’s mission statement. The position is remote and preferably within the African continent.

Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Leadership for the African Programs Team.
  • Develop the annual African Programs Strategic Plan and Budget.
  • Supervise the African volunteer programs, including the Regional Coordinator, National Coordinator and the Local Coordinator Programs 
  • Identify new project opportunities and lead fundraising efforts for the region in collaboration with the development team.
  • Ensure the successful progress towards the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.
  • Oversee the annual financial planning, expenditure tracking and reporting within the approved budget.
  • Manage data collection, project reporting and impact tracking for all projects.
  • Identify high-quality students and success stories from the activities hosted by the coordinators.
  • Oversee and maintain the growth of the organization across Africa.
  • Maintain and leverage relationships with partners, alumni-led organizations and donors.
  • Oversee the African student grant application and disbursement process 
  • Oversee the region’s communication, branding and marketing efforts, including newsletters and social media presence..
  • Act as the primary liaison for the African Programs within the global SFL structure.
  • Ensure alignment with SFL values and strategic direction across all operations.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Managerial position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field (relevant fields preferred)
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of liberty and SFL’s role in achieving them. 
  • Commitment to SFL’s mission, vision and alignment with the Ideas of Liberty.
  • Versatility to be a self-starter who takes initiative and a strong team member.
  • Outstanding personal presence, affability, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Familiarity with the network of African pro-liberty individuals and organizations.
  • Experience in volunteer supervision and program management.
  • Ability to give attention to detail to multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High Integrity, humility, and an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Possesses excellent professional and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and virtual meeting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Primary residence in an African country.
  • Proficiency with Project Management tools.
  • Proficiency in French and or Portuguese.
  • Familiarity with Excel formulas, Canva and Adobe.

Travel: The job would consist of some travel within Africa.

Compensation
SFL pays a competitive salary commensurate with experience and provides excellent benefits.
