Promoting Liberal Thought Through Structured Debate And Critical Reading Spaces

Impact Project: Dragão do Mar

Dragão do Mar is a university extension initiative at Universidade Federal do Ceará that promotes liberal thought through structured debate and critical reading spaces. By offering hybrid study clubs focused on books, argumentation, and oratory, the project fosters interdisciplinary engagement across Law, Economics, Philosophy, and Politics. The initiative fills a critical gap in Ceará’s academic landscape, where few formal platforms exist for open dialogue about classical liberal ideas.

With a mission to connect the academic community to broader society, the project emphasizes respectful and pluralistic discourse while nurturing leadership, communication skills, and intellectual autonomy. As the oldest liberal study group in Ceará, its 2025 relaunch represents both continuity and innovation in the local pro-liberty ecosystem.

Initial Objectives:

  • Host up to 5 events and 5 training sessions.
  • Reach up to 200 participants.
  • Publish up to 5 academic articles.
  • Deliver up to 10 social media posts.
  • Organize up to 10 internal meetings.
