They Were Hanging from the Rafters in Malawi

Published on

The Africa SFL Leadership Forum in Malawi saw an extraordinary — and unexpected — turnout on Saturday, November 15th. And most of them were brand new to the liberty movement in general, and to SFL events specifically.

While organizers expected around 150 participants, the event drew more than 800 people who filled the venue with energy, curiosity, and a strong desire to learn.

Read that again: more than EIGHT HUNDRED students in a small, landlocked country in East Africa came out to learn how digital tools can be used to advance leadership, liberty, and innovation across the continent.

Participants also explored strategies for using digital platforms for the cause of liberty and discussed solutions to challenges such as misinformation, online harassment, and cyberbullying.

Malawi National Coordinator Judge Banda and his dedicated team made this event possible. Their work created a space where young leaders could strengthen their commitment to the cause of liberty.

Banda attributed the surge in attendance to a careful selection of engaging speakers and a strategic choice in date: a date that was otherwise free of campus activities. He also credited his team’s marketing efforts on social media, which relied not just on local coordinators but the members of individual SFL chapters.
