Session on Europe’s Monetary Policy to Take Place at European Parliament

On June 7, a panel debate titled “The Great European Monetary Policy Debate — How to Protect the Purchasing Power of Money?” will be held at the European Parliament

Brussels, May 16, 2023 — On June 7, a panel debate titled “The Great European Monetary Policy Debate — How to Protect the Purchasing Power of Money?” will be held at the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels, located at Rue Wiertz 60, 1047 Bruxelles, Belgium. The event is organized in partnership with Alumni For Liberty, BrusselsReport.eu, Cobden Centre, and the Tholos Foundation

The two-hour session, which will start at 2:00 pm CET, will feature a panel of experts who will explore the topic of Europe’s monetary policy and its impact on purchasing power. The panelists include Member of the European Parliament, Johan Van Overtveldt (the New Flemish Alliance), former Belgian Finance Minister and Chair of the EP Committee on Budgets, Barbara Kolm, Vice President of the Austrian Central Bank and Director of the Austrian Economics Center, Jorge Jraissati — Director of Alumni For Liberty and Venezuelan economist focused on international development, and Max Rangeley, Editor of The Cobden Centre, a UK think tank promoting monetary transparency. The session will be moderated by Pieter Cleppe, Editor-in-Chief of BrusselsReport.eu.

The session is open to the public for all to attend, and will be held in Room Zweig 10 at the European Parliament. To register, please fill in the necessary information in order to receive an access pass to the European Parliament before June 1, 2023. For those without permanent access to the EP, the organizers will meet at the EP’s front entrance of the “Altiero Spinelli” building (on the side of Place Luxembourg) on June 7, 2023, at 1:30 pm CET. 

This panel debate offers the public an excellent opportunity to learn more about Europe’s monetary policy and its impact on purchasing power. Attendees can engage with the panelists, ask questions, and journalists can schedule interviews with any of the panelists in advance or at the event.
