Sangeeta Basu is a student leader for South Asia Students For Liberty.

What made you decide to join Students For Liberty?

I first found out about Students For Liberty through one of the most humble and talented seniors at my law school. Numerous SFL events were conducted on campus, and my participation in those inspired me to be a part of this amazing international platform.

Students For Liberty has set an extraordinary example across the globe and is generous enough to help you with your own projects. Crucially, it also helps spread the idea of freedom — something everyone needs.

What was your greatest accomplishment as a student leader with Students For Liberty?

The team at my law school successfully conducted events that drew in large numbers of students. SFL appreciated our work and was kind enough to offer a South Asia Students For Liberty retreat in Hyderabad.

As a student leader, I take pride in spreading SFL’s values at KIIT University and connecting the organization with other entities; we are optimistic about some upcoming surprises.

What are some of the best tools and resources Students For Liberty gave you?

We were provided resources for movie screening, banners, and funds required to conduct our programs.

What would you tell someone who’s considering getting involved?

Regardless of where we live or how much liberty we have, freedom and living with dignity should be our prime concern. Students For Liberty certainly embodies these values, and is the largest organization of its kind in the entire world.

Students For Liberty offers opportunities for networking and collaborating with like-minded people, where we can develop ideas to create a freer future for all individuals.

What does liberty mean to you?

For me, it is right that we have the power to break the shackles of restraints, and use our voices to break any unjust boundary that needs our help. For me, liberty is the freedom to live a dignified life with pride and achievements, as long as our actions do not hurt others.
