The 2024 Writer of the Year Is Filip Blaha

Published on

It is not all lectures and activism – every year, our students produce original research and get repeatedly published in local, national and even international media outlets. The Writer of the Year award celebrates our most prolific author of the previous year, and its 2024 recipient is Filip Blaha.

Filip, previously our National Coordinator for the Czech Republic, under whose leadership the team became the global Group of the Year, and now a Senior Advisor to our volunteers in the region authored forty published articles this year.

These ranged from some on a local blog to the SpeakFreely magazine and Students For Liberty’s international platforms, as well as national media and partner platforms such as the Young Voices blog site or 4liberty.eu, a policy outlet for Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Central Europe.

It is also for 4liberty that Filip wrote multiple extensive research papers on economic transformation and a rational, market-oriented approach to environmental conservation.

On top of all these efforts, Filip is actively engaged with translations of English texts to Czech, including the translation of Austrian Economics by professor Steven Horwitz which the team published last year, assisting other volunteers with translations and their own texts, and research projects by a local partner think tank.

All these efforts led to Filip being our 2024 Writer of the Year.
