The 2025 Group of the Year is Team Spain

Across Europe, 35 Students For Liberty chapters are spreading the ideas of liberty. This year, Spanish Students For Liberty stood out as the most active, fastest-growing, and overall most accomplished team in the network, earning the title of 2025’s Group of the Year!

Already one of our largest European networks, team Spain went through a rapid expansion to more than 60 coordinators and 100 active volunteers, with chapters now active all the way from Madrid and Barcelona to smaller regional centers, as well as the remote Canary Islands or Mallorca.

The team achieved unmatched national visibility with their many events in every region, reaching students around the country, and consisting of dozens of weekly seminars, lectures, and reading groups, as well as not one, but multiple regional conferences, such as LibertyFest Galicia or the now traditional Madrid Book Fair.

Especially the Canary Islands chapter, despite being established only recently, stood out with their regular academic seminars with high standard of discourse and impressive local engagement, building a thriving community from scratch.

Starting the year strong, the team stepped up to assist Atlas Network on site at their Madrid Forum, but didn’t stop there – when unexpected and destructive floods hit the Valencia region and government struggled to respond, the team once again rose to the occasion, and with more than 40 volunteers joining the clean-up efforts, and participated in delivering aid for the victims.

They have actively worked on growing the regional network, establishing local partnerships, securing donations for their projects and opportunities for their volunteers, including significant presence of the team on the Madrid Economic Forum, a major conference of policymakers and business leaders from around the world.

The team’s presence online was just as dynamic. Each region maintained active social media accounts, focused on local events and issues. Their podcasts, YouTube shows, and social media campaigns altogether produced hundreds of hours of content, reaching more than 500,000 impressions and tens of thousands of engagements.

By combining steady growth, national influence, rapid response in times of crisis, and diligent media outreach, Students For Liberty Spain set a new standard for student activism as our European Group of the Year.
