All around the continent, European Students For Liberty host hundreds of events every year to make the ideas of liberty come alive. In 2025, the event that claimed the Event of the Year award for its international impact is the lecture by Javier Milei in Rome.
On the afternoon of December 13, 2024, Students For Liberty Italy and the Milton Friedman International Institute hosted the Argentine president for an evening event in Rome. The conference was held in Palazzo Wedekind, a historic home of the newspaper Il Tempo. More than 120 guests joined for the occasion.

Javeir Milei delivered a speech on Milton Friedman’s academic contributions and his place in classical liberal thought. His remarks connected Friedman’s theory with contemporary debates on economic freedom and the role of the state.
This event also saw Students For Liberty volunteers take to the stage: Gabriele Marmonti and Manuel Ferretti Martinez, National Coordinators of the Italian chapter, delivered the opening speeches, where they spoke about the collaboration that began when Milei was still an economist and a columnist participating in student events in South America.
The Italian team is an example of how fostering connections for years, and having the courage to seize the opportunities creates a perfect event, or at least, our Event of the Year.
