Titled ‘The Age of Invention’, this event will feature Dr. Anton Howes, a prominent historian and author, as our guest speaker. He will be interviewed by Students For Liberty’s CEO, Dr. Wolf von Laer.

Having received his PhD from King’s College London in 2016, Dr. Howes has previously served as postdoctoral researcher at Brown University, and a lecturer in Economic History at King’s College London.
This event will focus particularly on the Industrial Revolution, a field in which Dr. Howes specializes. A historian of invention, Dr. Howes is particularly interested in the mindset behind innovation and entrepreneurship.
Having conducted extensive research on the entrepreneurship that drove the British Industrial Revolution, beginning in the eighteenth century, he will share some of his findings and discuss his recent book, Arts and Minds: How the Royal Society of Arts Changed a Nation. In this book, Dr. Howes highlights the impact of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), a subscription-funded national improvement agency.
His latest project is a book on what caused the British Industrial Revolution, paying particular attention to the many individual inventors and innovators involved in the process, as well as, the institutions they created.
