“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." -Thomas Jefferson.
North America Programs is rolling out a set of structural changes that fundamentally reshape how student leaders like you are onboarded, supported, and positioned to lead, starting May 2026. These changes aren’t just process updates; they’re an investment in your growth and a signal that we believe in your ability to drive real change and visibility to your campus.
If you are a Local Coordinator, the available (and new) map that includes the updates is here: https://sites.google.com/studentsforliberty.org/lcwiki/coordinator-map/apr-26
Here’s what’s new:
A Regional Lead is in charge of State Directors, the impact, and the development of Regions.
We are creating 6 new Regional Lead positions across North America. Regional Leads work directly alongside the NA Event Associate to support and coordinate leadership across their region. If you’ve been looking for a way to step up beyond your campus and shape what SFL looks like across an entire region, this is it.

We know, West Virginia is not where it should be, or the Dakotas, or New Mexico. Don’t worry, the regions are dynamic; they will change across the year. The important part is that they will have someone responsible for their growth. You can easily see this on the map
Who Should Apply? You’ve built something at the campus or state level. You think in systems. You’re comfortable with accountability. You get energized by developing other leaders.
A State Director (SD) is the highest leadership role within a state team, responsible for setting the strategic direction of their state. They lead recruitment by selecting, approving, or declining Local Coordinators, ensuring a strong and aligned team.
State Directors collaborate closely with the North America Outreach and Recruitment Associate and their Regional Lead to support, guide, and coordinate leadership efforts across the region.

Your Path Forward
Every coordinator’s path and story inside SFL is different. That’s why we’ve moved beyond the 90-day slogan to build a real, structured framework that adapts to your state’s reality. You step in where your impact will be greatest.
No State Coordinator yet? You step in as the founding lead. Your first 90 days focus on building from the ground up: launching your first event, establishing a social media presence, and recruiting your initial team.
A team with open roles? You go through the onboarding process with people from your Region or State, find the best fit, and immediately begin contributing where you add the most value.
Roles within the team are defined so no one is left without a clear purpose
We’re raising the bar on event pictures and rewarding them
Great pictures from your events matter more than you think. They fuel SFL’s marketing, tell the story of the movement, and yes, they help your own career. We’ve heard the feedback that the training and incentives around content haven’t been strong enough. That’s changing.
Gamification points for picture submissions are increasing from 30 to 150 points per picture. Quality standards are going up too: good framing, people in the shot, proper lighting, and SFL branding. We’re not just asking for more pictures, we’re investing in helping you take better ones.
All LCs will go through a refreshed photography training covering what makes a great shot and, just as importantly, how to show up with the confidence to get it.
Student leaders will also receive dedicated training on how to assign and empower a photographer at their events so content stops being an afterthought. Can’t make the live session? Training materials will be sent to everyone, with points awarded for completion. The best content will be spotlighted at every opportunity across NAP channels. A competition with equipment prizes is also in the works; more details coming soon.
The future of freedom in North America is being decided right now
Not in Washington, not in think tanks, but in your state, on your campus, in your community, and by you. This isn’t theoretical. This isn’t something that happens to other people in other places.
Every chapter you build, every student you recruit, every event you host, every great photo you take and every story you tell is a direct act of resistance against a less-free future. It’s a statement: we’re not accepting the drift toward more control, more restrictions, more complacency. We’re building the alternative.
You have the structure now. Clear roles. A 90-day framework that adapts to your reality. Support from your region. Incentives that reward the work that actually matters. You have the training, the tools, and a network of coordinators across two countries fighting alongside you.
Stop waiting for everything to be perfect. Stop waiting for permission. You have what you need. Step into your role. Build your chapter. Recruit your team. Tell your story through the pictures you take and the events you host. Win your state.
The students who shape the next decade will be the ones who decide to act now, not later, not when conditions are ideal, but today. Be one of them.
