David Rosa da Costa, pictured at right, leads House Ostrom for students pursuing academic careers and has had an exceptional season of achievements. Under his guidance, House members recently presented their research at the Mercatus Center’s Markets and Society Conference 2025, a milestone that highlights the House’s commitment to scholarship and intellectual curiosity.
House Ostrom also launched its new Substack, a platform where students publish short academic papers and participate in an internal peer-review process that mirrors real academic standards. The initiative is helping young scholars refine their writing, strengthen their arguments, and prepare for future academic endeavors.
House Ostrom is just one of SFL’s Houses. Read about another one, SFL’s select and talented cohort of policy wonks: House Bastiat: Shaping Policy.
Even with these demanding responsibilities, David still found the time and discipline to advance to the semifinals of the College Fed Challenge, one of the most competitive undergraduate economics competitions in the United States.
His leadership reflects the spirit of House Ostrom: rigorous, curious, and dedicated to building the next generation of thinkers who will shape the future of academic freedom and economic research.
