Honorary Alumna Pema Rubio and member of Students For Liberty Madrid Bianca Chiarbonello are taking bold steps to empower women in Spain. Pema, who is passionate about storytelling and political communication, and Bianca, who is a financial advisor and wealth manager, collaborated to open a new local chapter of the Ladies of Liberty Alliance (LOLA).

As an honorary alumna of Students For Liberty, Pema believes in the power of education and leadership for women. She envisions a future where women can freely express themselves and advocate for individual liberty. The launch of LOLA Spain was celebrated on May 20, 2023, with an event aimed at empowering and strengthening women in the community.

Attendees were treated to an exciting introduction by Roxana Nicula, President of FundaLib, who spoke about liberal feminism and her career. The event also provided an opportunity for networking with enthusiastic support from attendees who share the vision of empowering women and promoting equality before the law.

Pema and her co-founder Bianca Chiabornello shared their goals and missions for LOLA in Spain, inspiring everyone to join the movement and participate in future meetings. The inaugural event had the theme of “Networks for Change,” highlighting the importance of collaboration and collective action.

Pema emphasized the value of creativity, innovation, and volunteerism in building a fairer, freer society. She believes that each individual has a vital role in the transformation process. Through the opening of the LOLA Spain chapter, Pema Rubio has created a platform for women in Spain to come together, share their experiences, and work towards a future filled with empowerment, leadership, and freedom.

Her dedication to storytelling and politics presents a unique advantage to advocate for women’s rights and contribute to positive change in her community. Pema’s story shows how individual actions can make a significant difference in the pursuit of a more equitable and free society.

Pema and Bianca shared, “We are tired, and we know that many are with us in this feeling. We know that modern feminist movements do not fully meet our needs as individuals. We are unhappy with the protests that generalize us and speak out on our behalf. We disagree with the collectivist separation that occurs amongst us.”
