All of us at Students For Liberty are delighted to announce that, on July 14, 2020, at 12PM EST, our CEO, Dr. Wolf von Laer, will host a webinar with Dr. Rainer Zitelmann, a prominent historian, author, and real estate expert. This event, titled “The Rich in Public Opinion,” after Dr. Zitelmann’s recent book of the same name, is the latest in our Liberty at Home series.

Dr. Zitelmann, a successful entrepreneur and real estate investor, holds PhDs in both history and sociology. From 1987 to 1992, he worked at the Central Institute for Social Science Research at the Free University of Berlin. During this time, he wrote several influential works on German history.

After serving as editor-in-chief of Ullstein-Propyläen, Germany’s third largest book publishing group at the time, he became a head of department at Die Welt, one of the country’s most significant newspapers. While at Die Welt, he spent time as head of desk for contemporary thought, then moved to the desk for contemporary history, before eventually transferring to the real estate desk.

Subsequently, in 2000, he established his own company, Dr. ZitelmannPB. GmbH, which became a leading consultancy firm for communication in real estate. In 2016, Dr. Zitelmann sold the company, although he remains involved in an advisory role, and continues to invest in real estate.

As well as publishing a weekly column on Forbes, Dr. Zitelmann has written and published 24 books over the course of his career. These works have been translated into several other languages, and have enjoyed considerable international success, particularly in China, India, and South Korea.

Having obtained his second doctorate in sociology, Dr. Zitelmann has conducted extensive research into the psychology surrounding wealth. Much of his latest work involves an analysis of the public perception of wealth, including “rich-bashing”, stereotypes, envy, and prejudice.

His most recent book, The Rich in Public Opinion: What We Think When We Think about Wealth, provides extensive insights into many of these topics. Some of his other recent publications include The Wealth Elite: A groundbreaking study of the psychology of the super rich, and The Power of Capitalism.

In light of rising opposition to capitalism and economic growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, the theme of how wealth is commonly perceived seems more relevant than ever.

If you are interested in this unique opportunity to hear Dr. Rainer Zitelmann’s perspective on the topic of the rich in public opinion, along with his insights on how this affects the current global crisis, make sure to join us on June 14, 2020 at 12 PM Eastern Time.

We look forward to seeing you there!
