Announcement of the Passing of Uzochukwu Izuazu-Gerry

McLean, Virginia / June 8, 2022 All of us at Students For Liberty are saddened by the death of student volunteer and Regional Coordinator, Uzochukwu Izuazu-Gerry, who passed away on May 30, 2022.

Gerry, as he was fondly called, was a man of many parts. He spent four remarkable years as a student volunteer with African Students For Liberty as a Local Coordinator, National Coordinator, Regional Coordinator (Leadership Team), writing fellow at African Liberty, and a mentor to many students in our program.

He had recently completed his term as ASFL programs intern last April, and until his passing, was one of the 50 top global students selected for the competitive SFL Prometheus Fellowship.

Owing to his sterling accomplishments and impressive activity, his leadership team is one of the nominees for the 2022 African Student Group of the Year, and he himself is a nominee for the African Student of the Year awards.

Students For Liberty staff express their deep condolences to the family and friends of Uzochukwu Izuazu-Gerry. His soft-spokenness, sweet and dynamic personality, impressive work ethic, and incredible accomplishments will forever be remembered by us all.
