An Economic Cure for Populism

We are excited to welcome back Jorge Jraissati – a Venezuelan economist and activist in Maastricht. Back in 2019, he gave a talk about the situation in Venezuela, and now he is coming back for another academic lecture.

Jorge Jraissati is Director of Success Stories and Alumni Programs at Students For Liberty. His lecture will focus on the relationship between economic stagnation and the rise of populism in the developing world. His main thesis is that democratic stability requires inclusive economic development, which should be achieved by ensuring that market institutions reach not just a few, but all members of society.

The event will start at 6:30 PM at the Maastricht University, Faculty of Law, in the Statenzaal, Bouillonstraat 1-3 (Room Number: C1.302). The event will also be featured on the Facebook page of MSFL.
