Caleb Adebayo

Caleb is an Associate with the New York office of Allen & Overy LLP, where he works on the Securitization team, advising on innovative financing structures for cross-border Asset Backed Security and Collateralized Loan Obligation deals. His interests lie at the intersection of Finance (Capital Markets-Securitization), ESG/Environmental Law and Clean Energy.  He is an alumnus of NYU Law, where he was also the University’s Student Ambassador to the New York City Bar Association (NYCBA) and a member of the NYCBA’s Energy Committee. He is an International Finance Corporation (IFC) Fellow of NYU’s IFD Fellowship.

As part of his volunteer work, in 2015, he founded Earthplus, an environmental nonprofit organization delivering sustainable environmental solutions across Africa through policy influencing. He is a Fellow of both the Barrack Obama Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center (RLC) Fellowship and the US Carrington Youth Fellowship (CYFI). In 2018, he was one of 50 delegates to the African Union AGYI Ideation Forum in Gaborone. In 2017, one of 17 delegates from across Africa trained on climate reporting by Climate Tracker in Addis Ababa. In 2016, he was named one of 20 Young Peacebuilders in Africa by the United Nations Alliance of Civilisation (UNAOC).

In 2018, he won the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award for Moral and Environmental Leadership. In April 2019, he was recognized by This Day newspaper as a This Day lawyer and in 2020, he was nominated for The Future Awards Prize for Lawyers (Dubbed “Nobel Prize for Young Africans” by the World Bank). He is an alumnus of two flagship programmes of the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, one of which he emerged as the best participant. He has written widely on energy, finance, and environmental law topics in major national dailies and elsewhere. He is happily married to his sweetheart, Uzoma. In his spare time, he writes and performs spoken word poetry and plays the piano.
