Live and Let Live

Do you feel like you’re being squeezed by ideologies on the left and the right that dictate how you should think, feel, speak, and live?

Over the course of years, growing resentment towards the political status quo in America has reshuffled the political landscape, giving an opportunity for radical political groups to emerge and split our society.

The current political climate has never been more hostile. Rather than liberal pluralism, where different groups are reconciled under a basic, common narrative, political parties have become all-or-nothing, tribal collectives that define themselves (almost exclusively) as being opposed to the “dangerous radicals” of the other side. Their culture war is based on the presumption of authority. It assumes that the authority has all the answers on how to live, so as long as we are the authority, we are safe.

Students For Liberty (SFL) understands the toxic culture war dynamic is a win/lose proposition.

Our students believe the way to create a prosperous and free society is to live and let live, and to allow people to associate as they wish for a mutual benefit unless they transgress upon others. SFL connects students across the world fighting for the cause of freedom for all people, not just a select few.

Next Tuesday, we will be joined by Hannah Cox and Professor Antony Davies to discuss the nature of the political climate in the United States today, what led to it, and how a student movement can be a solution to end the political polarization.

Hannah Cox is a libertarian-conservative writer, activist, and commentator. Her primary role is as the Content Manager and Brand Ambassador for the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), the nation’s oldest libertarian think tank. FEE is an esteemed economic resource whose halls have been graced by the likes of Henry Hazlitt, F.A. Hayek, Ludwig von Mises, and more.

Antony Davies is an associate professor of economics at Duquesne University, Mercatus Affiliated Senior Scholar at George Mason University, and Milton Friedman Distinguished Fellow at the Foundation for Economic Education. His primary research interests include econometrics and public policy, and he is a frequent lecturer at policy conferences on Capitol Hill and at state capitals.

The conversation will be hosted by Nazlican Kanmaz, Students For Liberty’s Strategic Research Director.

Join Hannah Cox and Antony Davies on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 2 PM EDT for an online discussion about the future of liberty, Live and Let Live on Learn Liberty YouTube channel.
