Pieter Cleppe

Pieter Cleppe is a Brussels-based Policy Analyst dealing with EU affairs, Brexit, and the Eurozone. He’s the Editor-in-Chief of brusselsreport.eu, an International Research Fellow at the U.S. think tank Property Rights Alliance, a columnist for U.S. National Review Online, The Daily Telegraph, The Spectator, and a frequent commentator in European and international media.  Between 2008 and 2020, he was the head of the Brussels office of British EU affairs think tank Open Europe, covering EU policy and Brexit. Before that, he practiced law in Belgium, served as a Belgian government cabinet adviser, and also co-founded Itinera Institute, the first professional Belgian policy think tank. He holds a law degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (2004) and an LL.M in law and economics from the universities of Hamburg, Bologna, and Vienna (2005).  He is listed among ZN Consulting’s “top 40 EU influencers” on Twitter.
