“Existence, faculties, and assimilation - in other words, personality, freedom, and property, this is man in a nutshell.”
These words come from Frédéric Bastiat (1801–1850), the renowned French economist and journalist best known not for dense theory, but for his ability to make powerful economic ideas clear, accessible, and memorable.
Inspired by Bastiat’s style and legacy, Bastiat Scrolls is Students For Liberty South Asia’s publication platform for promoting libertarian thought. Through original essays and carefully selected reprints, the Scrolls aim to strengthen and expand liberty-oriented discourse in South Asia and beyond.
Published twice a month, Bastiat Scrolls offers a space for students and young professionals to explore how libertarian ideas apply to today’s most important political, economic, and social debates, while encouraging thoughtful writing, strong argumentation, and intellectual curiosity. We also welcome guest submissions from experts who share a commitment to liberty and open inquiry.
The Bastiat Scrolls initiative is led by Dyuti Pandya, former Academic Coordinator at Students For Liberty South Asia (2020–2022).
Bastiat Scrolls welcomes submissions that engage critically with current issues through a libertarian lens. We encourage essays that are original, well-reasoned, and accessible, and that contribute meaningfully to ongoing conversations about freedom.
