Casey Given started his career in the liberty movement as a Students For Liberty Campus Coordinator in 2010 at the University of California, Berkeley — “the People’s Republic of Berkeley,” as he calls it.

Casey’s club made a name for themselves on campus, winning Students For Liberty’s 2011 Organization of the Year Award and hosting Ron Paul’s largest rally in California during his 2012 presidential campaign.

Fast forward seven years, and Casey Given is now Executive Director of Young Voices, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit originally incubated during his time on staff at Students For Liberty.

“Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of libertarian thought leaders in policy, journalism, and academia.”

His staff of four does this by providing media mentorship and pitching services to 50+ writers around the world, whom they call “advocates”. Young Voices’ articles have been featured in outlets such as The Daily Beast, Forbes, Reason, Playboy, and USA Today.

Casey attributes much of his success to Students For Liberty.

“Hands down, my involvement with Students For Liberty was my greatest education in college. I joined the Campus Coordinator Program in 2010 as a bright-eyed undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley.

I soon found myself immersed in an exciting world of opportunity with passionate people. Rising up the ranks of SFL, I learned about the nonprofit landscape and the challenges and rewards of startup organizations.

After working two years on staff, I spun off a project of Students For Liberty, Young Voices, into an independent nonprofit in 2016. A year and a half later, Young Voices is stronger than ever before, and I am eternally indebted to SFL for giving me the skills, experience, and confidence to be an executive director at the ripe age of 28.”

At Students For Liberty, we are thrilled to see Casey flourishing as the Executive Director of Young Voices and wish him all the best!
