Students For Liberty (SFL) is the largest pro-liberty student organization in the world with students active in 117 countries on every inhabited continent. With a multi-million dollar budget and over 70 full-time staff members, we serve pro-liberty students in their pursuit to become leaders of liberty. We accomplish this through a strategy of identifying the top students and then empowering them to be agents of change in their communities. About the Liberty Opportunity Task Force (LOTF)

Students For Liberty is launching a Liberty Opportunity Task Force project as a first front-line response that will step in when the government steps on its citizens’ rights and freedoms.

The task force aims to maximize further our student coordinators’ success in advancing pro-liberty ideas, values, and policies by helping them prepare for, identify, and act on opportunities that emerge that are particularly amenable to change in favour of liberty.

The Liberty Opportunity Task Force will be a resource hub of training materials, programs, and projects that aim to prepare our students to meet opportunities for liberty advancement.

About the Role

Students For Liberty is seeking an experienced program manager responsible for overseeing and implementing SFL’s new Liberty Opportunity Task Force. The manager will play a pivotal role in strategizing a global response when liberty is in danger. The basic program has been designed, but there are many details to be worked out and decisions to be made about the program staff in advance of its launch.

The manager will oversee and facilitate all LOTF activities. The manager will hire and supervise a team dedicated to the task force’s success. The manager will report to the Deputy Director of Programs.

The LOTF manager will closely monitor the world news cycle. When a news item is identified, that can advance SFL’s mission; The LOTF team will launch a coordinated response campaign.

The position is remote and location-independent.


  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Liberty Opportunity Task Force initiatives, including, but not limited to.
  • Design and evaluate activism tools and ideas, and develop a task force plan. Determine creative approaches for campaigns.
  • Research global movements and develop effective pro-liberty counter-movement.
  • Research events within countries and anticipate LOTF deployments proactively.
  • Apply threat assessment methodology in countries to determine if it is safe to engage.
  • Support the Programs team in active LOTF execution, working with colleagues to determine SFL’s position on the opportunity and identify key campaign objectives.
  • Working with SFL’s Communications, Development, and Outreach teams to identify tactics to mobilize SFL’s coordinators to advance our mission and campaign objectives, and then take the lead in implementing those tactics.
  • Support the Director of Training in building training tools.
  • Train and mentor coordinators in identifying opportunities and support in the deployment of resources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with program partners and facilitators.
  • Oversee the LOTF program staff.
  • Report LOTF activities.


  • 3+ years of program and campaign management experience in complex hybrid program delivery.
  • 1+ years of experience in leading and building teams
  • Commitment to libertarianism
  • Familiarity with Google Systems, G-Suite
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan ahead
  • Strong written and verbal communication and general copy-editing skills.
  • The ability to work well independently and with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Success in making difficult decisions while weighing tradeoffs.
  • Experience in global activism is a plus.
