About the Event: Across the world, food is increasingly becoming an issue of geopolitical concern. Today’s global food security challenges differ from the past because the global system is evolving towards a multipolar one. In a multipolar world, facing international conflict and greater levels of systemic uncertainty, some nations are turning to resource nationalism as a way out, which implies the state is playing a more prominent role in the support, ownership, and management of natural resources.
In this dialogue, our guests and SFL alumni will analyze the situation, the role free markets should play in food system sustainability, and how the free market can enhance freedom in countries faced with rising poverty and food insecurity.
