Clark just got done posting an article with coverage about the wonderful regional SFL conferences that happened across the U.S. and it prompted me to reiterate to all SFL groups and affiliates how truly important it is that you befriend the press.
Let me say it again, the press should be your friend, not your enemy.
Over at Wake Forest, the 2009 Southern Student For Liberty Conference, hosted by WFU Young Americans for Liberty, recently went off without a hitch; however, a lot of the campus was unaware of the event.
How do we solve the problem of informing the rest of the campus about our successes? Get press coverage!
The Old Gold & Black (the student newspaper at Wake Forest) has been very kind to the YAL group over at Wake Forest and recently published, on the front page of their latest edition, a wonderful article about the conference, picture included!
In short, the Wake YAL group does not seek to anger the kind and wonderful folks at the Old Gold & Black, but instead treats them with their due respect. In turn, we get wonderful, front page no-less, coverage of our conference!
Befriend the press, send them timely press-releases, and establish good PR–both on and off campus.
