Student Movement Update: The DC Forum For Freedom at Cato

Last Friday was the first DC Forum For Freedom lecture at the Cato Institute.  The DC Forum for Freedom is an alliance of the pro-liberty student groups in the Washington, DC area including American University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, George Mason University, Maryland University, Northern Virginia Community College, and recently added Howard University.  The Forum groups pool their resources to co-host events and once a month come together at the Cato Institute to learn from one of Cato’s top scholars.

This month’s lecture was delivered by Cato Executive Vice President David Boaz.  His presentation Freedom in Crisis was a moving explanation of the current assault on liberty, going back nine years or so, and our obligation to defend against it.  Approximately sixty students and interns from DC attended the lecture and then enjoyed a happy hour in Cato’s lobby afterward.

Special thanks to Cato on Campus for making this event possible.  To learn more about Cato on Campus and the resources they offer visit www.catooncampus.com/.  The next DC Forum for Freedom event at the Cato Institute will feature Cato Senior Fellow Dan Mitchell on October 23rd.  All students and interns in the DC area are invited.  Make sure to check back here for more details as they become available.  For more information on the DC Forum for Freedom, email Irena Schneider at ischneider@studentsforliberty.org.
