The others are split into pieces:
First, Students For Liberty’s Alexander McCobin thanked the American Conservative Union for embracing tolerance and accepting GOProud [a gay republican organization] as a co-sponsor of CPAC. He pointed out that today’s students support both social and economic liberty:
Here is the video of Ryan Sorba’s angry rant in response:
The event has been covered by a number of sites already. The Daily Kos reported that McCobin was booed initially, which is true, but then the boos were quickly silenced by a chorus of applause and cheers from the liberty advocates in the crowd. I was there earleir and saw this. I was shocked. Alexander McCobin, you made a great short speech. I’m so glad you thanked CPAC for having GOProud. I’m a libertarian whose socially conservative, but I was so glad you reached out to them. I’d love to homosexuals come to our cause, becauseo ur cause is about freedom: I’m free to practice my religion and promote its tenets, and homosexuals are free to be homosexual. We just need to agree not to use the government to force our beliefs on one another, and we can all get along very well. That Ryan Sorba guy is a freaking nutcase and I think he says everything about YAF. The YAF speakers, from Sorba to the one who mocked YAL by saying YAF was the “original,” is a tasteless organization obviously full of morally bankrupt and ignorant leaders. YAF, whose founding is connected to Barry Goldwater as YAL’s is connected to Ron Paul, ought to issue an apology to YAL, SFL, and CPAC. Barry Goldwater is turning in his grave to know that YAF became a bunch of anti-gay, neocon jerks.
And forgive all those spelling, grammar and other mistakes. Running on 2 hrs of sleep thanks to all the YAL parties this weekend. =D
Wow, great job Alexander! You represented Students for Liberty well, spread the message in a positive way and and completely embarrassed Students for Freudum.
That was great. This illustrates exactly why I could be a Libertarian.
Libertarians are cool. Right wing “conservatives” are not. Those people are against everything America is supposed to be about.
To be clear, I’m not a Libertarian – I am a liberal – but I respect Libertarians because I think they are rational thinking people. I cannot say the same about right wing conservatives/Republicans.
I never understood how conservatisme and liberalisme got bundled into the same political school. Doesn’t make sense.
Poor Mr. Sorba he is so utterly confused as it relates to Civil Rights and Natural Rights.
Civil Rights are rights granted “De Jure” i.e. granted by government legislation or judicial proclamation.
Natural Rights are rights merely granted by the act of birth and thus owe no loyalty to any other individual’s opinion as long as they do not infringe upon an others person or property.
Further, as far as queer being irrational and thus “unnatural”, it is wholly to the contrary. Sam-sex partnerships are merely Nature’s way of instituting a balance of population and offering another avenue for nurturing otherwise abandoned children.
Silly me, always thought love for a fellow human knew no restrictions, except perhaps in the minds of so-called “Social-conservatives” who are really just another brand of statist desiring the state to control behavior amongst consenting free individuals.
As Mr. Alexander McCobin pointed out “freedom” does not come in pieces it is one singular unit, you either have and protect it, or you submit to tyranny.
It is immaterial that some of the so-called rotting leftover “social conservatives” booed Mr. McCorbin, as they are a dying breed who never truly embraced liberty anyway.

Gotta disagree with you there Allison. Many libertarians are also social conservatives, and the good thing about libertarianism is that is is a purely political theory, not a scientific or religious one. So, those who are social liberals and those who are social conservatives can be libertarians. I personally don't think homosexuality is natural, and so do many other libertarians, but that isn't important. What is important is that we agree we shouldn't use the state to force our beliefs on each other. Ron Paul says liberty brings people together, and he also likes to remark that when it does we find out the folks on the other side aren't "all that bad." Basically, social conservatives are NOT statists, just like social liberals are NOT by definition statists. I think your comment should replace social conservatives with neoconservatives. Neoconservatives are a dying breed which not only never embraced liberty, but have trod upon it like the Marxists have.
Frat boy.

Great speech, Andrew. This is why the Republican Liberty Caucus is so excited about the great work SFL is doing on college campuses around the country.
Dave
Well Done Alexander, and I'm so happy to know about SFL now. I'm not a student, i'm not gay, but I am free and intend with everything within me to remain that way. Everyone in this country who works toward true freedom simply knows that my life is my life and your life is your life PERIOD!! If you are really an American Freedom Fighter you don't have to be reminded of this. I think you did a wonderful job on your speech, you gave a great deal of pertinent information in a short time, and anyone for any reason who gets at a pulpit and disrepects ANYONE should be escorted out and kept out!! Just know so many more people now have heard about the SFL and you'll have our support as well. Thank you for attending the CPAC that is really something YOU and SFL should be very proud of. God Bless You & Yours. Nini
I was there as well booing Sorba off stage, and I spoke with a representative of GOProud after this incident to see what he thought. He told me that the incident has brought so much positive attention and free media coverage to his cause that he jokingly said that GOProud should make Ryan Sorba an "Honorary Member"!!!! As a YAL Chapter President at Middle Tennessee State University, I too am glad Sorba called us out, because it has increased awareness of our organization and perhaps has put a spotlight on us as a group that understands that the government does not belong in our bedrooms. I reach out to gay organizations on our campus and I couldn't be happier that Ryan "Neo-Con" Sorba thinks us to be his enemy, even though we are not. I also couldn't be happier to witness the support for freedom as evidenced by Sorba getting booed off the stage. Epic Fail Sorba. Hope you learned something from this.
