Cato Intern Reunion

This past weekend was the Cato Institute’s Intern Reunion in Washington, DC.  Over 200 interns ranging from the class of 1978 to this year’s class of 2010 were in attendance, many traveling great distances to be there.  It was inspirational to see how so many people have passed through Cato’s doors and the great things their alumni have gone on to accomplish.  Tom Palmer

On Friday night Cato’s Executive Vice President David Boaz gave an inspirational speech in the winter garden.  Then on Saturday morning the attendees gathered in the Hayek Auditorium to hear speeches from Cato scholars and noted alumni.  One of the presenters was Tom Palmer, a vice president at the Atlas Economic Research Foundation a member of Cato’s first intern class in 1978.  His address presents a fascinating look at the early libertarian movement and thoughts on what motivates us to work so hard for the cause of freedom.  You can find the full remarks here: http://tomgpalmer.com/2010/05/23/address-to-former-cato-interns/
