Bio: Jan Hayen is currently finishing his Master of Science in Luxury Management & Marketing at the EM-Lyon Business School. Previously he studied Information Management & Systems and Law (KULeuven).

Ever since his first year at University Jan was drawn to the philosophical, political activities of the LVSV and joined the board briefly after. During the next years he attended several international seminars on liberty, such as Advanced Studies in Liberty (Institute for Humane Studies), Université d’Eté (Institute for Economic Studies Europe), Seminario Mises (Istituto Bruno Leoni), and the Liberty Conference (Libertarian International UK). Next to these philosophical, ideologically oriented seminars he also became active in more policy based groups such as LYMEC and IFLRY, where he represented and translated the freedom loving ideas of the LVSV to the European and international playing field. While he was chapter president of the LVSV in Leuven he co-organised the “Liberty Seminar”, an international ideologically oriented seminar that was founded by his predecessor in cooperation with the IES-Europe. He has continued to organise the event for several years and has given it a new home in The Foundation for Humane Education, which he founded and still presides over today. After presiding over his local LVSV chapter, Jan also became the national president of his organisation where he focussed his efforts on consulting with the local chapters and starting a new chapter.

Jan is also involved in many other liberty promoting organisations and debate clubs, such as the LVV, Libera! and the Mises Youth Club. As secretary-general of the Mises Youth Club, he’s a regular attendee of the Mises Circle in the European Parliament. There is a monthly meeting set up by the Mises Youth Club to promote Austrian Economics within the European Parliament.

Jan hopes that he will be able, through the ESFL and other commitments, to enable youngsters worldwide to strive for Liberty and ultimately end up in a more free world.
