Christine is a pre-law student pursuing a dual degree in music and English literature at Madonna University. Without realizing it, she has been an avid supporter of liberty her entire life, inspired by her father who taught her to “vote for the candidate, not the party” and her mother who, as a college student in the Philippines, protested the totalitarian regime of Ferdinand Marcos. A love of dystopian literature, particularly Orwell’s 1984 and Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale convinced her of the utter necessity of liberty while Rand’s We the Living proved to her the importance of individual rights. Christine is the co-founder of the Madonna University Students for Liberty, which is the only political group on her college campus.

On Students for Liberty: “While I have always been a supporter of liberty, SFL inspired me to actually do something about it. Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, I am constantly surrounded by people discouraged by a broken economy. It is my goal to encourage people to question why things are the way they are rather than to simply accept it. By building up the student movement, I hope to effect a change that will make Michigan stronger than ever, with a community of people united by liberty.”
