Bio: John Payne is the director of research at Americans for Forfeiture Reform, and he also serves as the Missouri state chair of Young Americans for Liberty. John attended Washington University in Saint Louis where he was active with College Libertarians, leading the group from 2003 to 2004. During the summer following his junior year, John performed research at the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, AL as an O.P. Alford Fellow. After graduating with a degree in history in 2005, John pursued a career in teaching, but left the profession in 2009 to follow his dream of writing. He worked at the Show-Me Institute in Saint Louis, MO from 2010 through the summer of 2011. His writing has appeared in the Journal of Libertarian Studies, Young American Revolution, The American Conservative, and Reason as well as newspapers across the state of Missouri.
