Leadership Opportunities

The student movement for liberty is not a static entity.  It is not something run by directives up top or by individuals who are decades out of school.  This movement exists and grows thanks to the dedication of students like yourself who are ready and willing to not only support the cause of liberty in words alone, but show their passion through action and organizing. Check out the list of opportunities below.

The student movement for liberty does not come with instructions.  It is an organic movement directed by those who are willing to take the cause upon themselves.  If there is a leadership opportunity you would like to take on, but is not listed here, please contact SFL’s Program Manager, Clark Ruper (cruper@studentsforliberty.org), to talk about your idea.

Leadership Opportunities in the Movement:

SFL Campus Coordinators- The SFL Campus Coordinator position is ideal for students interested in dedicating several hours a week to promoting liberty on their campus and in nearby campuses.  Help start new organizations dedicated to liberty, attract students to the cause of liberty, and keep the student movement growing to promote a free academy and a free society.

SFL Exec Board- This is both the most prestigious and most intensive opportunity available for students dedicted to liberty.  It is not a position to take lightly as it requires the full dedication of every member.  However, it also provides the greatest rewards to those who take it on, offering access to unparalleled resources to promote liberty, opportunities to meet leaders of liberty at organizations like Cato, Reason, and IHS, and recognition as someone who will join their ranks one day.  The SFL Exec Board will begin accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year between October 2009 and January 2010.

SFL Alumni Association- In just one year of existence, SFL already has a strong list of alumni who are doing incredible things for liberty.  If you are out of school, but want to support the student movement for liberty, join the SFL Alumni Association and consider joining the Alumni Board to get even more involved.  If you are interested in getting involved, email Sam Eckman, chairman of the SFL Alumni Association, at seckman@studentsforliberty.org.

Free Student Media Leadership Team- SFL is spending the summer launching a new project called the Free Student Media to provide a network of support for all student media dedicated to liberty.  The purpose is to support pro-liberty student newspapers, magazines, blogs, filmmakers, and any other kind of media out there.  If you are interested in joining the student leadership team that is organizing this project, please email Alexander McCobin at amccobin@studentsforliberty.org.
