Bio: Casey is a third-year at the University of California, Berkeley, where he is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Rhetoric with a minor in Philosophy. As the product of a bipartisan family, Casey learned as a teenager to think critically and independently about politics, which eventually lead to him to discover “the truth” in libertarianism. During his second year of college, he founded Students for Liberty at Berkeley, the school’s only freedom-oriented political club. Through watching his libertarian club thrive at a notoriously liberal university, Casey was inspired to see how freedom can thrive in even the most hostile of environments. This inspiration motivated him to become a Campus Coordinator for Students For Liberty, where he now represents the San Francisco Bay Area.
As a student of Rhetoric, Casey is an avid reader and writer of political theory. He regularly contributes to his club’s website and maintains a political blog of his own entitled “Anti-Force by Casey Given”. Casey’s passion for writing is so deep that he hopes to advance the liberty movement someday as constitutional lawyer and author for freedom.
Favorite Figures in Liberty: Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman, John Stuart Mill, Lao Tzu
On Students For Liberty: “Unfortunately, my group is the currently the only libertarian student organization in the Bay Area. As a Campus Coordinator for Students For Liberty, I plan to change that through energizing the youth movement for freedom in the Bay and beyond.”
